Zana and Nadia Muhsen

Hello guys,

I spent yesterday reading this book called: Sold - The Story of Modern-Day Slavery.

This book is by real story that began in 1980 when father sold and married his two daughters without their knowledge. They've been taken to Yemen's mountain village far away from civilisation. Each of them lived in different family and was forced to sex and hard work. They couldn't escape or come back home, not even meet each other for months. Their fathers-in-law were very cruel to them and would beat them up if sisters didn't follow his statements. Sisters both gave a birth. Older one - Zana Muhsen - to Marcus and Nadia Muhsen to three children.

The ending of the Nadia story here

When six years passed they found a way to contact their mother and after another two years they could leave this horrible village but not country and lived in rented house in the city, waiting for Yemen's government's decision. The law in Yemen is that if married couple divorces, the children stay with the father. Nadia couldn't leave her kids but Zana left promising to Nadia she's gonna get her out there with all of their children. But another years pass and Nadia is still in Yemen, even comes back from the city to the cruel village, is under control of her father-in-law and is pregnant again.

(back in Yemen - Nadia on the left, Zana on the right)

I finished this unbelievable book in one day - I just couldn't stop. And I couldn't believe the end so again, I've been been doing some research and found the answer - here.

So, I wish happiness, luck, love and health to you, don't let anyone take your freedom... ever...            Terez

Can You Save Me

Hello people,

I'm watching this show Covert Affairs at the moment, while I'm writing this.
Annie Walker is just an amazing woman, isn't she? She can fight, shoot, speak at least billion languages... and  she's beautiful. I'm not lesbian, it's just a compliment from perfectly straight woman.

So, song I'm posting today is the theme song for Covert Affairs. It's called Can You Save Me and is by Flint Eastwood - formerly Power. Check this out, people.

Love,                  Terez

Where I Come From

Hello,

I watched The Breaking Dawn Part 2 today!
Ok, to be honest - I didn't like any of the Twilight  movies after the very first one. They were so not like the book and made Edward - the most  romantic creature in the whole world - look bad!
But this last one? It's perfect -  It reminded me of the first movie's atmosphere and awesomeness so much and I even recognized so many sentences from the book...
I actually cried so much at the end when everything ended good and you know it'll be like this forever.

So, I'm giving you a song from the soundtrack to this movie. It's by Passion Pit  and is called Where I Come From. I've known Passion Pit  before but didn't know this song and it's so sweet! Check it out.

I wish you luck in whatever it is you do.          Terez

Joanna

Hello,

my brother is genius (not just) in music! He found the coolest page grooveshark.com. You put in your favorite music and this page shows you what other music you could like. It totally works.
Because of this page bro recently found an amazing band called Little Comets! They're playing lovely british indie rock (extra points to them for british - british accent is the coolest). And I am absolutely into them since summer.
So, I'm giving you their song Joanna that is so catchy and good at the same time. You definitely wait 'til the chorous - it's woth it I promise!

Have a great day!           Terez

Whispers In The Dark

Hello people,

I am crazy about Mumford & Sons and their amazing new record Babel lately. So, couple days ago I  recommended this wonderful song called Babel (check it out!) and today I'm giving you Whispers In The Dark.
It's been a long time since I heard something that would please as much as Mumfords do! Their country/folk/indie sound it the best. A lot of banjo, mandolin, accordion and - something I really appreciate - acoustic guitar! So, make sure to have a listen to them!

Have a great day!           Terez

State Of Grace

Hey,

Today I'm giving you Taylor Swift's song State Of Grace.
I actually am a huge Taylor's fan, especially of her second record she got worldwide famous for - Fearless (Love Story, You Belong With me) and as well of her fourth/last record Red (We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together).
This song I'm recommending - State Of Grace - is wonderful. It opens up her already mentioned album Red and has just magical atmosphere. Taylor herself said about this tune that it's sound is special - it's what falling in love sounds like for her. And I agree.
Make sure to check it out!

Love,         Terez

Baby On Board

Hello,

So, I've been watching The Simpsons all the time lately. I love this show, it's something that always makes me laugh unstoppably. I've seen this episode, where Homer confesses he used to sing in a band with Barney, Skinner and Apu. They had a big hit called Baby On Board and I remember loving this song so much. So I found it for you guys.

Enjoy and have a great day!       Terez

Still

Hello,

Right now I'm really crazy about looking for one Bobby Mcferrin's song I heard in commercial. I downloaded his whole discography and I'm listening to all of the songs, trying to find it. So please wish me good luck - I really want to find it!

Today I decided for Foo Fighters' song. I adore this band. I even went to see their show when they were in Prague this summer - the best concert I've been to!

The song I picked is way softer than their normal. It's from their record In Your Honor (on this one is even an amazing song featured by Norah Jones called Virginia Moon). Song is called Still and has the best atmosphere. Be sure to check it out!

Love,         Terez

Babel

Hello people,

it was my birthday yesterday - yeah I'm fifteen! Great feeling.
I had the best cake. My mom cooked it for me. It was with pudding and fruit on the top and tasted so good. Home-made cakes are simply the best - can't help it.

Today I'm bringing a song by a lovely band called Mumford & Sons (you may know their song The Cave). The song is called Babel and my brother showed it to me today. I love it - some kind of folk and country mixed up together with banjo, mandolin and accordion sounds I go crazy about every time I hear them. Plus - the singer is mind-blowing. Such a powerful voice. Check it out for sure!

Thank you and have a great day.      Terez

I Am Not A One Trick Pony!

Hello guys,

this day is way better than yesterday (so far) so I decided that I cannot bother you with sad songs no more.

Today I picked a song that is my favorite from Nelly Furtado's second record called Folklore. This album is actually really  old - it was released in 2003! - but I love all the song from here. It is sorta tribute to "old Nelly" when I listen to it because three years later after this record she released Loose (hits like Maneater, Say It Right or All Good Things come from this one) and changed her music style completely. I don't mind that at all. Before she happened to be (good) R'n'B singer she gave us two amazing modern-folk records I adore (Whoa, Nelly! and Folklore).

So this song is called One Trick Pony  and I always can't help my self while I listen to it and must move into the rhytm - at least a little! Another good song from Folklore is even Powerless (Say What You Want). You all should check it out for sure!

Guess that's all for now. Goodness and bright-mood to you folks!     Terez

Lost Cause

Hi-llo people,

So those last days were pretty crazy and I'm starting to get a lil' bit depressed. I guess it's the weather, my birthdays coming and then a lot of troubles about school. I'm praying for everything to be good.

Today I'm giving you one of the Priscilla Ahn's song again. She is just amazing - I simply cannot help myself. The song is called Lost Cause. It is totally expressing my feelings. Great song, peeps. And I think you can identify with this tune, too. Everyone sometimes feels like a lost cause, right?

So wish only good to you, guys!               Terez

Rivers and Roads

Hello fellas,

November has come! That's really cool actually - I love fall and this is the month that represents it for me the most. Plus my 15th birthday are coming... Yep, I'm finally becoming a women! - as everyone thinks age 15 is all about... I mean really? Guys, can't you just at least for a minute think about something else then sex?

So, this is my song of the day. It's called Rivers and Roads and is by this lovely band The Head and the Heart. I really love their music and even the name. Really - isn't it just a beautiful name for a group? It is for me! And the lyrics in this song is what really touches me. Kinda expresses what will happen to me soon...

So, happines, luck, health to you people! Have a great rest of the day.          Terez

Brooklyn

Hello everyone,

This hurricane Sandy striking in America thing is really touching me. I'm really sorry for anyone being influenced by it somehow. God bless all the victims and their families. It's just terrible!
Best luck to you people, who are having trouble with it...

And so - as some kind of honor to New York (heard Sandy strikes here the most) I chose a song Brooklyn by talented Theo Katzman. I really love this song and even the musical video. Simple and enchanting. This guy is really cool, he has special musical style. Love his other stuff, too. For example Every Few Days is making me dance :-)

Love, health and luck to all of you peeps!      Terez

Back to the city...

Hello guys,

I came back to Prague couple hours ago. It really sucks that weekend is over but what can I do - I just have to get over it...

But those two days in our cottage were truly great.

Photo I took after we arrived here. Fall strikes on our tree really hard. What used to be green in now bald...

And photo of the same place from the next day. Yay! First snow!

I took care of the fire. It's actually not easy to make it flame up like this!

View from our bedroom window. I took this shot only half an hour before it started to snow. Good timing.

I just had to take a photo of this! The harvest has been really kind to us this year. Ahh, those apples. You can't even imagine how great they are!

Now, to the song for this day!
Because it's fall - even though it snows outside - I chose a song by Norah Jones' 2009 album Fall. I really love this record very much, Norah first showed here her new style of music. Song I picked is called Back To Manhattan and is one of my favorites off Fall.

Love people!       Terez

Magical Globe

Hello,

Before I get to the point I just wanna say - watching National Geographic Channel  is alway adventure. Every document is simply breathtaking. Today was one about Earth - how things work and how everything has some reason in the natural cycle. Undoubtedly mesmerizing movie.

So now to the topic - at the moment I'm spending a little while at grandparent's apartment. My grandpa has got the coolest thing, he says it's called magical globe. It operates on the basis of "electrical discharges". They are simply "dancing" on the glass dome. I love it.

The best thing about it? When you touch it the electrical discharge contacts with you and as long as you keep your hand on the glass it follows you. After half a minute of keeping your hand on it you can even feel the heat of the charge. It's truly magical, probably the reason for the name...

Love, Terez

Beastly

Hello to you,

I unexpectedly got to wi-fi so I thought to myself - I have to share this with you!

I just rewatched movie Beastly. Don't know if you ever heard about it... It's something like 21st's century Beauty and the Beast remake - but not a screwed up version! And - Vanessa Hugdens, Alex Pettyfer, Mary-Kate Olsen, Neil Patrick Harris... Really great cast!

I've seen this movie half a year ago and it totally got me. And as I watched it today, it charmed me even more! If you haven't seen it yet, you have to fix it!
It has got some fricken amazing atmosphere, some magic while you watch it - I can't even describe it fully. Just something in the air. I adore it!
Plus I really love the idea of having a tree tatoo that changes as the seasons go by.

From City To Nature!

Hello to whoever,
Every post message:
I know no one is ever gonna read this but I don't care. I'm just excited that I can do my posts :-).

I'm actually off to our family cottage for a couple of days so I won't be doing any posts. The name of my blogspot says From City To Nature and I'll literally take this journey now. It's actually the reason why I called it like this, I'm doing this trip almost every weekend... ;-)
I'm gonna miss you my non-existing-website-readers! I know you won't but anyway...

At this sparetime I'll read my new Jane Austen's book. It's called Persuasion and I love it. Jane was an amazing writer, no matter she lived in 1800's.
Oh and how could I not love reading it with such an amazing bookmark? I got it from my mom. That woman knows what I like... It's by Nostalgic Art Collection. (Book on this photo is in czech language, don't try to read it. I can cause I am from Czech Republic :-) )

Ok... Now to the point of all of this - my music tip of the day
There is one song I've been listening to couple minutes ago. It totally describes my mood. It's sorta old one, back from those times when Norah Jones was still doing country-folk music but I don't care - still love it. Norah Jones - Feeling the Same Way.
Goodbye for now, my non-existing readers           Terez

We Were Free...

Hello to whoever,
Every post message:
I'm not stupid enough to think someone is actually gonna read this but I'm just excited that I can do my posts and write whatever I want. The succes is the last thing I care about :-).

This day was a wasted day. I woke up at noon so it happened to be so short!
Well, I went to bed really late 'cause I watched a movie Arthur (the one with Clive Owen and Keira Knightley - good one by the way :-) ). Why I'm telling you all of this?
It made me think and I suddenly remembered I have pictures from back when I was on schooltrip in England - we visited Tintagel Castle. The legend says King Arthur lived here and you can find there even Merlin's Cave - place where Arthur found Excalibur.

I loved this place. We were walking on those cliffs smelling the sea. Ohh, great times...

Now, to the more important stuff. Music and my tip of the day!
While I write this I listen to Priscilla Ahn's song We Were Free. I just love it. So simple and melodical.

So, have a listen to it - it deserves your attention - and goodbye my imaginary readers.    Terez

Excited!

Hello to whoever,
I'm not stupid enough to think someone is actually gonna read this but lah, who cares, right?
I'm just excited that I can do my posts and write whatever I want. The succes is the last thing I care about :-).

Today was a really bad day I have to say. Cloudy weather always brings bad thoughts to me so I'm not feeling very well. In situation like this I listen to music.
Today I'm gonna give you a tip for an amazing song. It's called When You Grow Up and is sang by lovely and talented Priscilla Ahn (she actually has a blogspot, too - www.girlinatree.blogspot.com )
This song always cheers me up, if you have time please listen to it. It worths it.
Goodbye my imaginary readers.    Terez
